His marathon best is currently 2:09:34 during his win at the San Sebastian Marathon in 2002. Other top marathon results include a third place in the New York City Marathon

In 2004, he did not run a single race besides the two marathons in Boston and New York. He also did not race before the Boston Marathon in 2005. His half marathon best of 61:23 is from 2000.
