Timi Hansen
Encyclopedia
Timi "Grabber" Hansen is a Danish bass player. He played in the Danish heavy metal
band Mercyful Fate
from 1981 to 1985 and from 1992 to 1993, and King Diamond
from 1985 to 1987.
He plays with his finger rather than a guitar pick.
Timi is currently not playing in any band, but re-recorded the Mercyful Fate song "Evil" in August of 2008 for the video game "Guitar Hero: Metallica". There has been talks of a Mercyful Fate reunion to record a full album within the next couple of years. (Yet to be confirmed).
Timi has a daughter, Emilie, who is working to walk in Timi's footsteps playing bass. Her knowledge of bass playing she gets from her dad, who practices with her at home, teaching her his own way of playing bass. According to Timi himself, she's got talent for playing bass.
Many have asked about how Timi acquired "Grabber" as a nickname. Timi apparently used to play a Gibson G3 Grabber. A music store clerk began to call him "Grabber" and the name stuck. Aware that the meaning might be misunderstood, he slowly changed his stage name, Timi Grabber, back to his real name, Timi Hansen.
