Tilting car
Encyclopedia
A tilting car is a special type of car, which has the ability to change the angle between the road and the bottom of the passenger cabine in such way that there are no
horizontal forces while driving through a curve. To achieve this a hydraulic system similar like that used in lowriders in combination with a device for determining the vertical axis is used. The maximum angle on which the vehicle can tilt can be up to 45 degree and more.
Variants of tilting cars are tilting trailers.. Tilting cars allow high speeds while driving through curves. However they have the disadvantage of high costs and the fact that for most designs a larger clearance is required. A possible variant is a vehicle in which the passenger cabin tilts inside a case.
