Sir Thomas Bennett was an English merchant who was Lord Mayor of London
in 1603.
Bennett was a city of London merchant and a member of the Worshipful Company of Mercers
. On 7 February 1594, he was elected an alderman of the City of London for Vintry ward. He was Sheriff of London in 1594 to 1595 and Master of the Mercers Company in 1595. He was Master of the Mercers Company again in 1602. In 1603, he was elected Lord Mayor of London
. He was knighted on 26 July 1603. In 1604 he became alderman of Lime Street ward, remaining until 1612. He was president of Bethlem and Bridewell from 1606 to 1613. In 1610 he was Master of the Mercers Company again. In 1612 he became alderman for Bassishaw ward and remained until 1627. He was president of St Bartholomew's Hospital
from 1623 to 1627.
Bennett was the father of Sir Simon Bennett, 1st Baronet.
