After a gap of two weeks, it resurfaced on 11 May 2006 in its new weekly format of 5–6 minutes. While the show was previously largely studio-based and focused on the week's events on the Internet

, the new format concentrated more on using web-based stories as the subject of surreal sketches.

As well as Donal, the show has featured appearances from Matt Edmonds, Dan Harkin, Andy King and Leander Deeny.

thisisaknife was in the iTunes' "Staff Picks" selection of the year's best podcasts in both 2006 and 2007.
