Place in the musical

This is the moment is sung by Jekyll in the moment he decides to test his formula in himself. In the song he says how he waited for this moment and this is the greatest moment of his life. There is a transition in the stage between Jekyll's living room and his laboratory, the places where the scene happen. When the song ends, he is at his laboratory, ready to test the formula.

Lyrics

There were a few changes in the lyrics of the song comparing the concept version and the actual version.

While in the concept lyrics, Jekyll sings:

"This is the day,
Just see it shine,
When all I've lived for,
Becomes mine!"

In the actual version, he sings:

"This is the day,
See it sparkle and shine,
When all I've lived for,
Becomes mine!"

The part in the concept version, when he sings:

"This is the moment,
This is the hour,
When I can open up tomorrow
Like a flower,
And put my hand to,
Everything I planned to,
Fulfil my grand design,
See all my stars align!"

Where the melody
Melody

is very similar to the beginning of the song, was totally changed, with the melody and lyrics changed to:

"For all these years,
I've faced the world alone,
And now the time has come
To prove to them
I've made it on my own!"

Song lyrics

Jekyll:
This is the moment

This is the day

This is the moment when I know I'm on my way

Every endeavour I have made ever is coming into play

Is here and now today

This is the moment

This is the time

When the mometum and the moment are in rhyme

Give me this moment, this precious chance

I'll gather up my past and make some sense at last

This is the moment

When all I've done

All of the dreaming, scheming and screaming become one.

This is the day

See it sparkle and shine

When all I've lived for becomes mine

For all these years I've faced the world alone

And now the time has come to prove to them I made it on my own

This is the moment

My final test

Destiny beckoned - I never reckoned second best

I won't look down

I must not fall

This is the moment

The sweetest moment of them all

This is the moment

Damn all the odds!

This day or never, I'll sit forever with the Gods!

When I look back

I will always recall

Moment for moment

This was the moment

The greatest moment

Of them all!
