in 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2006 and represents Adoor
Constituency. He was the Water Resources, Forest, Health and Parliamentary affairs minister in the Ommen Chandy government. He also served as the Secretary of the Congress (I). He is married to Lalithambika Radhakrishnan and has two sons - Anupam and Arjun - and a daughter, Athira.
