Theodora is believed to have been born sometime around 1180/5 in Constantinople

 to parents whose identities are uncertain. However, it is known that one of her grandmothers was a daughter of a Byzantine Emperor. As such, Theodora may have been a daughter of John Doukas

Marriage and later life

In 1203, Theodora married a distant cousin, Leopold VI of Austria

. Her husband died in 1230 and she subsequently became a nun. She died in 1246.
