. This constituency came in to existence in 2008, in place of Periyakulam constituency, following the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies. This constituency comprises Bodi, Cumbum, Periyakulam and Andipatti assembly segments from Theni district and Usilampatti and Sholavandan assembly segments from Madurai district.
