The Tunguska Event were an alternative rock
band hailing from Cardiff
, UK. Formed in late 2005, the band was initially composed of founder member Joe Mensor, Eddie Wyatt, Geat and Rich Hutchinson.
The Tunguska Event's influences were varied and ranged from Queens of the Stone Age
and Muse
to Kyuss
.
In April 2006, Rich Hutchinson left the band citing musical differences, and was replaced shortly thereafter by drummer Tom Conway.
The Tunguska Event's debut EP
, Green Eye of the Little Yellow God, was released on 26 April 2006.
30 October 2006 saw the release of the band's second EP, "...and you call that a relapse".
In May 2007, the band parted company with Eddie Wyatt, citing musical differences. Shortly afterwards, the third EP "Slug Party" was completed, produced by Ginge
and Jeff
at Nottin Pill studios.
In July 2007, whilst searching for a new bassist, the band parted company with Geat, again citing musical differences. Due to the loss of two influential band members and a new project involving the remaining members, as of August 2007 The Tunguska Event ceased to exist.
