The purpose of the Rand Journal, as described on its website is "...to support and encourage research in the behavior of regulated industries, the economic analysis of organizations, and more generally, applied microeconomics." The Rand Journal publishes both theoretical and empirical papers. It was first published in the spring of 1970, when it was called The Bell Journal of Economics and Management Science (1970–1974).
