. In June 2007, drummer Jed Laidlaw left the Motorettes, and was replaced by Daniel Rose-Troup, who then subsequently left shortly after. The Motorettes played the Freevolution Festival in Newcastle on May Day 2007.

Their debut album, The Motorettes, was released on 21 August 2006.

In mid 2008, Jack Laidlaw and Robin Howe announced on the Motorettes' website that the band "were no more". The two have now got involved with another group named Love Bites and Bruises.

In late 2006 in Baltimore MD, another band, being unaware of the U.K. based band the Motorettes, formed and started a 60's and 70's Stax and Motown cover band also dubbed The Motorettes. Later, after stumbling across their U.K. indie rock counterparts and finding that the band was officially defunct, they decided to keep the name. The Baltimore-based Motorettes are currently active, and play large community and private events across the East Coast.
