The Monitor is an alternative newspaper published every other Monday at Truman State University
in Kirksville, Missouri
. It began publishing in 1995 as a forum for students, faculty, and community members to write stories, voice opinions, or showcase art. The paper published continuously until January 2007, when plans to move the paper online never materialized. The paper returned in printed form in April 2008 after year long break. It is printed on newsprint in a tabloid style, and since 2004 has had a full page cover devoted to displaying art.
