arts, social, and business community. They have performed throughout the capital region in venues including Fernwood Community Association, The Belfry, La Boehme, Cinecenta, the Open Space Gallery, Mocambo's Café, The Diner, Floyd's Diner, Kaleidoscope Theatre and currently at the Victoria Event Centre.

The Impromaniacs are the creators of the Victoria International Improv Festival (which has run in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008 and will run in 2010 and beyond), Singe 1997 and 2000 and the Alternative Arts Festival. The Impromaniacs participated in Fringe 1992 and 1993 and Vancouver International Improv Festival (in 2001 and 2005).

The company has an active cast of approximately 15 performing members and 6 developing members, and holds open auditions throughout the year to encourage more community members to explore improvisation. Company members include computer architects, historical researchers, teachers, business owners, physicists, performing artists and students. They come from various areas throughout the Greater Victoria region and range in age from 18 to mid 40's. Diversity of thought and expression being crucial to the presentation of improvisational theatre, the company encourages people of all classes, genders, religions and ethnicities to participate and exists in an attitude of openness.

All members of the company, including the society directors, are volunteers, and any money raised contributes to the company's continued development.
