The Forum (journal)

The Forum is a peer-reviewed historical journal published annually by students at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
. The journal is associated with Cal Poly's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
, an American honor society for history students and professors. The Forum was founded in 2008 under the guidance of Dr. Tom Trice, a Cal Poly professor, and was first published in Spring 2009. Its first issue included, in addition to other topics, essays on Meiji architecture and cross-cultural exchange with the West, the ideological underpinnings of Euro-American travelogue writings on colonial Southeast Asia, and the evolution of Christian faith among African-Americans in the Antebellum South. The journal is associated with the Cal Poly Department of History and is printed by Cal Poly University Graphic Systems, a student-run printing enterprise owned by Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Scope
The Forum accepts papers from students at all accredited colleges or universities, irrespective of academic major or level of study. The journal does not have any regional or historiographical emphasis.Awards and Recognition
In 2010, The Forum was awarded first prize in the electronic journal category and third prize in the print journal category of Phi Alpha Theta's Gerald D. Nash History Journal Award.Executive Editors
The Forum is run and edited entirely by Cal Poly students associated with Phi Alpha Theta.
