The party was founded by Japarta Ryan who is the grandson of Indigenous activist Vincent Lingiari
. Mr Ryan believes the party may form government in the Northern Territory
or Australia one day. Mr Ryan was a former member of the Australian Labor Party

The majority of its policies focus on Indigenous issues such as the Stolen Generations but the party also supports an Australian Republic, change to the Australian Constitution, Northern Territory statehood, Gay rights and more.
