The Family Way won a Ivor Novello Award in 1967 and was remastered and released on CD in 1996.
This recording is sometimes considered to be the first Beatles solo album, but most critics consider George Harrison
's Wonderwall Music
, also a soundtrack album, to be the first, because it was released under George Harrison's name while The Family Way was released under George Martin's name, even though it was released in November 1966. A 45 single was also released in 1966 featuring "Theme From 'The Family Way'" and "Love in the Open Air" on United Artists as UP1165.
