Circulation of The Economist has almost doubled in ten years, from 0.84 million in 2001 to 1.47million in 2010. Revenue streams are split roughly 50-50 between subscriptions/circulation and other areas such as print and digital advertising.

, an annual publication. This magazine was redesigned as a quarterly in September 2007, and became a bi-monthly publication in August 2011.
The Group launched three new businesses in 2010. The Ideas People Channel is a vertical online advertising network of 50+ sites defined by the mindset of the audience. The sites recruited for the network were identified by the readers of The Economist as their favourite online destinations for topics on business, globalisation, innovation and culture. The channel competes in the lower-cost, high-volume network advertising market, a category not previously served by The Economist online. Ideas People Channel is unique in that it offers advertisers access to an influential psychographic group of over 35 million unique users around the world. Also launched were Economist Education, providing e-learning courses delivering a comprehensive base of knowledge, skills and tools to thrive in emerging markets; and Online Fairs, a virtual events business that connects advertisers and readers through online events and trade shows.
