The Dagenites began their career as early pioneers of psychedelic rock which initially differed itself from its British counterpart with its distinct guitar tone, by the early 1960s their sound had broadened to include garage rock and other influences. Though officially they were from Maryland, The Dagenites spent some time in Dayton in the mid 60s. In 1965 their first release came out. This jangle – gem on the small PIXIE label. This can be found on several compilations. The Dagenites have influenced such bands as The Cherry People

. Original members were John Bardi lead guitar, Bruce Kennett rhythm guitar, Geoff Robinson bass and Roger Fallin drums. Eventually they added James Musgrove on vocals to complete the band and would go on to cut two crucial 45s "I dont wanna try it again" and "I've Gone Slide". Their name came from Dagenham
