. It is published on a fortnightly basis during term-time. Currently, the newspaper has News, Sport, Arts (currently named Flux), Comment, Features and Gaeilge sections The newspaper was first published in the year 2000 after changing its name from The Bullsheet, its predecessor.

History

The College View was founded in 2000, and went under the name of The Bullsheet (a reference to the other DCU publication An Tarbh) for a while. The newspaper has changed layout several times during its history. It has always been tabloid size.

Previous editors include Audrey Donohue (2009), Steve Conlan (2010),Niall Farrell (2011), Laura Slattery (2000), business journalist with the Irish Times; Ciaran Cronin (Semester 1, 2001), currently a soccer writer for the Sunday Tribune; Michael Brennan (semester 2, 2001), now the Irish Independent's political correspondent; and Paul O'Flynn (2002), sports presenter with RTE television news.

Participation

Unlike many of its rival student newspapers in UCD and Trinity, neither of which have dedicated journalism schools, many students studying for their Bachelors and Masters degrees in journalism at DCU have tended to shun participation with the College View in favour of attempting to obtain part-time or intern work with national and provincial newspapers or broadcast media outlets.

Supplements

Flux is the arts supplement of The College View, and is run as a supplement within the newspaper. Flux won magazine of the year at the 2010 Student Media Awards. The arts supplement was previously named The Attic having been renamed in 2009/10.

The Look was a fashion supplement produced in conjunction with the DCU Style Society in the past.
