History

The Cleveland Leader was launched on July 4, 2006 by Julie Kent and Eugene McCormick. The inspiration for the name was an old, defunct Cleveland newspaper called The Cleveland Leader. The newspaper was sold to The Plain Dealer in the early 20th century, who eventually allowed the rights to the name to lapse.
