The Cappies are awarded to honor excellence in high school theater across the United States. The Washington metropolitan area contains over 50 high schools and is therefore the largest Cappies region. High Schools from Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Southern Hartford, and Howard counties traditionally participate in the event.
