), popularly known as G.P, a leftist leader. Unni is now on run as police charges a criminal case against him. G.P realizes the potential of Unni and decides to bring him into politics. He brings a truce between Unni and Pappan, and thus Unni becomes the new face in student politics. This infuriates Unni's uncle and akes Unni to leave the house, unless he gives up his political activities. Unni leaves the house and shifts to hostel. Unni, within a short time emerges as a student leader. G.P, party decides to oppose the legislation for self financing colleges. G.P launches a student agitation against the government. Unni is the leader of the student movement. But G.P had sinisteral vested plans in mind. He decides to immolate Unni in middle of the agitation, with an aim of spreading the violence through ou t the state. The death of Unnikrishnan creates the agitation more fierce and G.P emerges more stronger in his demands. The death of Unnikrishnan was but a big blow to his family. Harikrishnan (Suresh Gopi
), the elder bother of Unni, who was in Mumbai, arrives in Kerala for the funeral rites. He smells something fishy and decides to investigate the death of Unni. But Harikrishnan had to face several stumbling blocks from many corners including the Chief Minister. The police sounded so non-co-operative and several of student friends of Unni were also silent. Hari, thus takes the help of Meera, a journalist, who had covered the agitation. She gives out the details of G.P's heinous plans. Hari decides to take law in his hands. Hari then comes to know about G.P's wicked plans and decides to take law in his hand. His violent fight for justice is the rest of the story.

who happened to see the photo of Goswami on fire on the cover page of Illustrated Weekly, decided to make a movie on this. He handed over the magazine to Renji and asked him to write a script based on student politics. Thus happened Thalasthanam.

Plot
The films begins with the entry of Unnikrishan (Vijayakumar) at the Govt.Law College. A simple and innocent chap Unnikrishnan had to face ragging from the seniors. But, when it crosses the limits, he tries to react for which Unni is beaten brutally by the seniors. Pappan (AshokanAshokan (actor)
