The Texas Longhorns swimming & diving program represents the University of Texas at Austin
University of Texas at Austin
The University of Texas at Austin is a state research university located in Austin, Texas, USA, and is the flagship institution of the The University of Texas System. Founded in 1883, its campus is located approximately from the Texas State Capitol in Austin...

. The program includes both men's and women's teams.

The first swim team at the University of Texas was developed under Tex Robertson
Tex Robertson
Julian "Tex" Robertson was an Olympic bronze medalist for the 1932 US Water Polo team and former swimming coach for the University of Texas. He is best known for inventing the flip turn.-Swimming career:...

. He was the head coach of the team between 1936 and 1943 and between 1946 and 1950. During that period he led the Longhorns to thirteen titles in the Southwest Conference.

In 1979 Eddie Reese
Eddie Reese

 became the head coach of the men's swimming. He would lead the team to ten NCAA titles. The women's team won nine NCAA titles, six of them under coach Richard Quick.
