The square features a variety of eateries including Rudy's (Mexican), PJ Ryan's Irish Pub, Theo's Pizza, Angelina's Pizzeria, Amelia's Kitchen (Italian), Sabur (exotic Mediterranean), Kee Kar Lau (Chinese), House of Tibet Kitchen, Marsala (Indian), and True Bistro (Vegan). There are several cafes in Teele Square, including Renee's Cafe, among other Chinese take-aways and corner shops.

A three alarm fire on October 30, 2011 at approximately 10:00pm broke out in a dry cleaners and destroyed four businesses and a police sub-station in Teele Square. The destroyed businesses are: Hawk Dry Cleaners, Nail Image salon, Kee Kar Lau Chinese restaurant, and Maria’s Italian Cold Cuts.

Several other restaurants and stores, including Orleans Restaurant and Bar and Dave's Fresh Pasta (fresh pasta as well as gourmet grocieries and sandwiches) are on the strip of Holland Street between Teele and Davis Square.

Teele Square is also home to Ladder 3 and Engine 6 of the Somerville Fire Department.
