Talawanda High School was created in 1956 when three Butler County
high schools; Hanover
, Stewart and McGuffey
, were consolidated into one school. The first graduating class was in 1957.
The school benefits from close association with Miami University
, where students are able to take classes with a state grant covering tuitions, fees, and textbook expenses.
The high school is to be replaced in January 2012 by a new high school (currently under construction) approved in a 2008 levy.
