Talaguppa is one of the Villages in Sagar Taluk in Shimoga District in Karnataka State. It is located 14.37 km distance from its Taluk Main city Sagar . It is 77.68 km far from its District Main City Shimoga . It is 323 km far from its State Main City Bangalore. It lies 14 km from Jog Falls
which happens to be the deepest waterfall in India. This is one of the major villages in shimoga district. Agriculture is the main source of income for the people of this village. Land is very fertile and has abundant water. It rains heavily during monsoon. Areca & Paddy are the most grown crops here. Few scenes of kannada movies like Pratap,Mungaru male,Akasmika etc were shot in this village.

Before the gauge was converted from narrow gauge to broad gauge, Talaguppa was the last narrow gauge railway station towards Jog falls.
The metre gauge
railway track between the town of Shimoga and Talaguppa was laid by the British way back in 1938. In 1939, Mirza Ismail took the maiden journey on this line to visit the city of Sagara. This rail link provided access to Jog Falls, which is just 12 km from the village of Thalaguppa. Famous personalities like Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Morarji Desai used this line to reach the spectacular Jog Falls.
There is a proposal to connect Talguppa with Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district by a new railway line, which will be a shorter alternate rail route between Mumbai and southern India.
KSRTC and Private Bus services are also available.
After the broad gauge conversion, Indian railways has introduced a daily train in between Mysore city to Talguppa, Mysore - Talguppa Intercity express.
