TVHS offers a small variety of subjects. In Grades 8 and 9 there are eight compulsory subjects. These are: English (Home Language or First Additional Language), Afrikaans (Huistaal [Home Language] or Eerste Adisionele Taal [First Additional Language]), Mathematics, Life Orientation, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences (Geography & History), Economic & Management Sciences and Art.
Once pupils reach their senior phase (Gr. 10 - 12) they are given a choice of subjects. They have 4 compulsory subjects which include: Mathematics (FET or Literacy), English (Home Language or First Additional Language), Afrikaans (Huistaal [Home Language] or Eerste Adisionele Taal [First Additional Language]), Life Orientation.
Learners may also pick 3 of the following subjects: Physical Sciences (Physics), Life Sciences (Biology), Geography, Hospitality Studies
Business Studies, Accounting, Computer Applications Technology (CAT).
There is a possibility of taking on extra subjects such as AP Mathematics or History. These subjects are given after school hours and only to grades in which there is enough interest.

Sport
TVHS is not a particularly talented school when it comes to sport. The sport program is quite limited and they do not feature in many of the top leagues in the country. One sport that does do well is the Hockey Department.
