State Government statutory authority responsible for developing a metro

, Australia
. The authority was created in late 2008 as an amendment to the Transport Administration Act, 1988 to manage and deliver the metro system.
The Chief Executive was Rodd Staples.
In addition to this, there was possibility of extending the CBD Metro towards the North-West
beyond Rozelle. As a whole, these three projects were to form 'Metro Line 1'. Beyond this, a proposed 'Metro Line 2' to run from Malabar, though the CBD, to the Northern Beaches was also considered.
Despite the authority commencing property acquisition and performing geotechnical work for both the CBD and West Metros, in February 2010 the NSW government announced that metro construction would not proceed, with funding diverted to expansion of the CityRail heavy rail network and light rail lines.
