Swimming is an original musical outfit from the British midlands. They are singer and guitarist John Sampson (who has lived variously in Australia, England and Cocos Island), brother Peter Sampson (a former UK champion beatboxer) on drums, Andy Wright (keyboards), Joff Spittlehouse (guitars), and Blake Pearson (bass), who creates the band's artwork.

Swimming self-released their debut album - The Fireflow Trade - in Spring 2009 on their own label Colourschool Records. The first single off the record, Panthalassa, was included in the NME's top 10 tracks of the week following its release and the album received reviews in NME and The Fly Magazine.

A new single, Sun In The Island, was released in 2011 by EVR Records, a label run by New York's East Village Radio

 who had a weekly show on the station. The single gained support from Radio 1, NME, The Fly, Q and The Times, and Lee later offered the band an album deal through his own Tummy Touch Records

Swimming's debut album 'Ecstatics International' will be released on 7 November 2011, and has been reviewed positively by Clash Magazine . It was preceded by a single, 'Neutron Wireless Crystal', named after the crystals used in early transistor radios.

Swimming are also known for their headphone-only binaural videos, recorded with Dallas Simpson. In December they will play a headphone-only gig in Nottingham.
