Suresh Luthra was a fast bowler. He joined the Delhi cricket team
in 1965, at the age of 20, and later went on to play for the Punjab cricket team
. While his batting was generally considered mediocre, he scored 1014 runs in 76 innings in first-class cricket
(the Ranji Trophy
) and made one century in his career.
His bowling was more successful, with 262 wickets in 67 matches. Once he achieve 9/70 in one single innings. He averaged 16.92 and amassed 14 five-wicket hauls and 2 ten-wicket hauls. Thus he managed a haul in approximately one in four of his matches. He played some limited overs cricket unsuccessfully before retiring in 1981.
