Military use

As well as being a commercial facility, Suratthani Airport is also an active Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) base, the home of 4nd Air Division/7nd Wing Air Combat Command.

The 701 sqdn. "Shark" fly 6 of the SAAB JAS-39 C/D "Gripen" fighter aircraft and still operate up to 12 of the remaining F-5B and F-5E "Tiger" fighters.
The 702 Sqdn. operate the 2 AEW and transport SAAB SF340 airplanes.
