Plot

 in New Orleans, both team's star quarterbacks are preoccupied. Wolecki is having marital difficulties, while McCauley is invovled in a shady deal with a management firm. Meanwhile, a national gambling syndicate attempts to find a way to stop the heavily favored Cougars from winning the game. All these plots are connected by a police chase of a killer who has attempted to evade law enforcement by ducking into the crowd.
