, wanted to form her own teenage girl band. So, in the summer of 2009, Trachtenburg formed SUPERCUTE! and enlisted her friend Julia Cumming as a member. The band name originated from a self-titled song written for Trachtenburg by a friend.

Trachtenburg had first met Julia Cumming in 2003, the daughter of Alec Cumming, a longtime friend of the Trachtenburgs and a local rock musician living in Manhattan. They became good friends and began playing music together. Julia and June Lei had been best friends since the 2nd grade in public school, so when Trachtenburg sought a third member for the band, Cumming suggested Lei. Originally, the band was named The Oh My God! Girls, but another group already had a similar name, so they changed the band's name to SUPERCUTE! After the formation, the band they won Deli Magazines NYC "Band of the Month" competition in March of 2010 and as their prize, won free studio time to record an EP, which they self-titled SUPERCUTE!. After Lei's departure from the band in late 2010, she was replaced by then 11-year-old Olivia Ferrer.

Departure of June Lei, emergence of Olivia Ferrer and Delilah Brierley

In November, 2010, June Lei left the band to pursue her education. A blogger criticized her decision and published it in the online music blog, Brooklyn Vegan. This caused an angry rebuttal from Lei's family who then used their control of the band's Yahoo! email, website, myspace, twitter, and other accounts to claim that Supercute! was disbanding now that Lei had left. In addition, the Lei family kept thousands of dollars worth of the bands merchandise they had been storing, including t-shirts, CDs, and hand made merchandise. As of this date, 4/8/2011, this incorrect information is still posted.

After Lei's decision to leave, Trachtenburg and Cumming announced that they were searching for a third member.Olivia Ferrer was later recruited to replace Lei in December 2010.

Due to Ferrer's schooling conflicts and young age prohibiting her to play in late-night underage venues, fourteen-year-old English-born keyboardist Delilah Brierley was enlisted to fill in for Ferrer whenever needed.
