Plot summary

Chaplin plays a handyman at a hotel. His love interest in the village is the girl played by Edna Purviance

Reception

Sunnyside was produced during a time when, by all accounts, Chaplin's state of creativity was low. It was met with indifference by critics during its original theatrical run. The June 16, 1919 issue of the New York Times contains this review:
