It is one of the northern most train stations for passenger services on this Rawang-Seremban Route, and, hence its name, was built to cater the traffic around the suburb of Sungai Buloh as there were no other commuter or mass transit services in the Klang Valley

Future plans

The government announced that the station will also house a Integrated Transport Terminal for buses and the planned Sungai Buloh - Kajang Line
