The band formed in early 2011 with founding members, Reece Mee (vocals/guitar), Tom Burrows (guitar) and Jordan Stokes (drums). Shortly after the bands formation, Chris 'Piggy' Smith was added to play bass, although his preferred instrument was the guitar.
The band achieved local success with the song 'Sleep With the Lights On' which is the bands most known song. Suckerpunch draw influence from known bands such as Fall out boy

Shortly after Burrows parted ways with Suckerpunch, friend of the band Tom Harrop was invited in, however his instrument of choice was bass guitar. This gave Piggy the opportunity to move to guitar, and leave Tom with playing bass, and singing backing vocals.
They are currently recording the new E.P - 'Suit up Suckers' which will be available from December 2011, and is set to feature the following songs:-
- The one take rule (intro)
- Sleep With The Lights On
- Yesterday
- Twice As Fast.
