Studio X
Encyclopedia
Studio X was an early evening pop/rock music show on BBC Radio Wales
presented first by Jamie Dunbar, then Simon Parkin towards the end of its run. It broadcast every weeknight between 8-10pm (9-10pm on Tuesdays usually on MW only due to sport on FM). Studio X featured new music and classic tracks from the 90's, and interviews and sessions with the musical artists of the day.
Every Monday, the show ran down the Welsh Top 40 singles, since Welsh acts such as Stereophonics
, Funeral for a Friend
and Feeder
usually do far better in their home country chart, as opposed to the UK equivalent. On Tuesdays, the Welsh album chart was counted down. On Wednesdays there was "Exposure" which showcased new Welsh talent. On Thursdays, it was "Studio X at the Movies" which reviewed the latest movies and DVD releases. Every Friday, there were unplugged sessions, Welsh top 40 predictions, the final play of the "Single of the week", and all the essential things to do in the weekend guide.
It was replaced in Summer 2006 with "Adam and Mal" a relatively similar show but less chart based with Adam Walton
from Mondays to Thursdays and Mal Pope
on Fridays.
