Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Chennai is one of the 39 constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in India. It has been able to build excellent facilities and expertise for analysing, designing and testing structures and structural components. SERC is involved in various activities with the Central and State governments as well as with public and private sector undertakings. SERC is a certified ISO:9001 quality institute.

Objectives

The SERC shall strive in excellence in the field of Research and Development in Structural Engineering.

The main objectives of the SERC can be summarised as under:

• Organize innovative Research and Development programmes for development of Technology and expertise to result in reliable designs and construction techniques.
• Establish advanced facilities for software development, advanced analysis and testing.
• Publishing quality papers in international journals to boost IPR content in Research and Development, hence attract external financers to these programmes.
• Transfer technology and expertise for the benefit of industry or society.
