This section of road including the Verandah Bends was subject to road-widing and re-profiled during the winter of 1970/1971 road-widening occurs on the A18 Mountain Road at Verandah
and Stonebreakers Hut by cutting into the hillside. The two building structures that were owned by the Isle of Man Highway Board were removed in the 1980s but the corner retained the name on the Mountain Course of the Stonebreakers Hut.
