Stoksund is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag
county, Norway
. It is located in the northwestern part of the present-day municipality of Åfjord
. The municipality included the island of Stokkøya
and surrounding islets, plus the surrounding area of the mainland. The biggest village in the area is Revsnes

. Initially, Stoksund had a population of 1,122. On 1 January 1964, Stoksund was merged into the municipality of Åfjord
to its south. Prior to the merger, Stoksund had a population of 1,515. Often spelled wrong as "Stokksund", origin unknown. No official documentation exist that an official change from the spelling "Stoksund" to "Stokksund" has occurred.
