"The Game" (Ross S. Sterling High School vs. Robert E. Lee High School)

"The Game", as it is called, is an annual football game between the Ross S. Sterling Rangers and the Robert E. Lee Ganders varsity football teams. This game takes place every year at Stallworth Stadium. Ever since 1967, these two schools have competed in this annual event. In 2008, the Ross S. Sterling Rangers defeated the Robert E. Lee Ganders, 21-20. The only other time that "The Game" has been decided by a point was in 1971(Ross S. Sterling won, 20-19.). The very next year, the Robert E. Lee Ganders beat the Sterling Rangers, 35-27, to close out the decade with a win-loss record against the Rangers at 9-1. In 2010, the Sterling Rangers won 28-20 against the Robert E. Lee Ganders, after going into overtime tied 20-20. In the 2010 UIL realignment, Robert E. Lee dropped to conference 4A while Sterling remained 5A. The game is played in "zero" week and no longer counts as a district game. In 2011, the Ganders would return the favor and defeat the Rangers by the same score. The Ganders lead the 45 year old rivalry 27-16-2 and by a score margin of 992-633. It is a game that should no longer be played.
