Steve Cutts assumed office as Commonwealth Assistant Secretary-General for Corporate Affairs on 4 May 2010.
In this capacity, Mr Cutts reports to the Secretary-General on corporate affairs, with oversight responsibilities for the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Finance and Administration Division, its Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division and its Human Resources Section/Division.
Following earlier careers in insurance, teaching and the UK Civil Service
, Mr Cutts spent 11 years at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
(OECD), as an export credits negotiator and policy analyst, as the Executive Assistant to two Deputy Secretaries-General and then as the Director and Head of the Office of the Secretary-General, before joining the Commonwealth Secretariat as Director of the Strategic Planning and Evaluation Division in August 2008.
Immediately prior to joining the Commonwealth Secretariat, Mr Cutts worked as the Executive Director of the Africa Initiative at INSEAD Business School.
Mr Cutts holds a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature and American Studies (University of Keele), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (University of Lancaster) and an Executive MBA (INSEAD).
