Stella by Starlight is an American electropop band
, formed in 2006 in Durham, North Carolina
, as The Born Analouge. The band is currently composed of Nathan Fowler (songwriting, production, synths, and vocals) and various collaborators including Mike Posner and Eric Holljes (guitar, songwriting, and additional vocals). The band won mtvU's
2007 Woodie Award for Best Music on Campus which led to a booking and management deal with the Agency Group and the Diesel Management Group. Fowler is a 2008 graduate of Duke University.
Stella by Starlight's albums are released for free via subscription through Panda Push. [www.pandapush.com] To date Stella by Starlight has released "Made of Fire" (EP 2007), "Stella by Starlight" (EP 2008), "Timely. Accurate. Compliant. Integrated" (LP 2008), "My Electric Robot Friend" (EP 2008), "Room for Chelsea" (LP 2009), "College Boy in the Ghetto" (LP 2010) and "Subscription Tracks 2010" (EP 2010).
"Stella by Starlight" rose to national recognition while a college band at Duke University
. They specialized in covering current Top 40 and dance music, often stringing and mashing up such as "Sexy Back" into medleys, in part due to the band's programming and production abilities. Past members include Sonny Byrd (guitar) Greg Laird (acoustic drums) and Shuhei Yamamoto (bass).
