Station Street tram stop

Station Street is a tram stop on the Nottingham Express Transit
network, opened in March 2004. The stop is the southern terminus of the single line route, and is located on Station Street, directly opposite Nottingham railway station. A footbridge between the railway station and the tram stop provides a direct interchange between NET's service and National Rail
services.
The tram stop is constructed on a separate right-of-way
, built on part of the old viaduct that used to carry the Great Central Main Line
to its major station in Nottingham

. The route diverges from the on-street route
as it runs onto the viaduct for the final approach to the terminus.
The tram stop itself is substantial, with a small station building containing a waiting area, and both step and lift access to the street below, as well as the footbridge that connects to the railway station. Up to three trams can be accommodated on the two platform faces - one is a single length platform, while the other is an extended double length platform.
Upon completion of the NET Phase 2 proposal that will extend the network into the south of Nottingham, the existing Station Street stop will be replaced by a new stop built on a viaduct that will carry the tramway directly over the railway station. This new stop is intended to connect directly with the railway station's concourse.
