Haribo Starmix

Delightful confectionery that caused universal outrage with it's controversial UK advertising campaign. It featured a Caucasian family in situ outside a petrol station, singing/performing a trite musical number with the following lyrics:

'Oh so smooth, Love them soft, Squidgy-Squidgy baby, New Supermix, From Haribo, A bag full of fun'

The Supermix family accompanied these lyrics with corny dance moves and forced smiles. Various social networking sites were used by opponents to vent their annoyance. A new phenomenon emerged whereby individuals who were usually peaceful human beings were transformed into irrational people who threw objects at their TV in rage. Fans of the confection were bitterly disappointed at Haribo's decision to continue with the promotional campaign despite their efforts to remove the material. It has gone down in Media/Advertising history as the least successful campaign ever causing untold misery and pain to millions of innnocent TV viewers. As of 2/09/11 rumours abounded of a charity music concert led by Bono to raise funds for Haribo's victims and their years of ensuing therapy.
