Stagecoach in Swindon is the sector of the Stagecoach Group
that operates buses in Swindon
.
It was formerly part of the Bristol Omnibus Company
, then from 1983 part of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Omnibus Company (both subsidiaries of the National Bus Company
). From 1983 it operated under the name Swindon and District. It was privatised in 1986 and absorbed into the Stagecoach Group in 1993.
As well as Swindon, it also operates buses to Oxford, Cheltenham, Chippenham and Marlborough.
To help elderly or disabled passengers, some routes have low-floor buses. Routes 5,6,7,8,49,55,55A,66,70,71,72,73,80 Reguarlly use Low Floor Buses. Services 51/151,65,74,75 Sometimes use Low Floor Buses, but are often operated using step-entrance buses.
Most routes operate all week but some routes do not operate on Sundays, and others operate only on Sundays. On bank holidays a Sunday service is operated.
Stagecoach in Swindon also provides a Sunday Service on most of Thamesdown Transport

Operations
Stagecoach in Swindon carries over 12,000 passengers per day, an increase of about 6.5%. It has 54 buses and 130 employees.As well as Swindon, it also operates buses to Oxford, Cheltenham, Chippenham and Marlborough.
