Sri Atmananda Memorial School (Austin, Texas)
Encyclopedia
Sri Atmananda Memorial School (Austin) was a private school located in Austin, Texas, that offered innovative education for sixteen years during 1995-2011. The school based its approach on that followed in Sri Atmananda Memorial School (Malakara, India) which was inspired by the great Sage Sri Adwayananda (Sri K. Padmanabha Menon). This teaching approach is based on building a relationship of trust between teacher and child so that the child feels valued, with the curriculum introduced through the child’s interests to make learning meaningful and fun.

Founding director of the school was Pattye Henderson, whose family had previously owned the school site, an historic mansion and 10-acre (40,000 m2) campus at 4100 Red River Street in Austin, Texas, originally owned by cotton entrepreneur E.H. Perry and his family. Mrs. Henderson and her team of teachers courageously offered a teaching approach for the benefit of children, educators and parents. The dedication of the staff and the commitment of the parents resulted in an innovative learning experience for a small group of graduates who have gone on to do well in higher education and to enrich their society.
