Overview/History

In August 2007, Spot LLC announced the introduction of the SPOT Personal Tracker product, the world’s first satellite GPS messenger, to be marketed through its latest subsidiary SPOT, Inc., later named Spot LLC. SPOT provides emergency notification technology that allows users to communicate from remote locations around the globe.

Coverage

SPOT satellite coverage works around the world, including all of the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia, Northern and Central Africa, portions of South America and North-Eastern Asia.

SPOT Products

SPOT products offer people peace of mind by allowing customers to notify friends and family of their location and status via satellite and delivered as a text message and/or email or post an update to social networks like Twitter and/or Facebook. In a critical emergency, SPOT can summon help from rescue authorities.

SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger

The SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger was the second safety tracking device released by SPOT. Pre-programmed messages can be sent to predetermined contacts via email, text message or Facebook and/or Twitter with coordinates of a user's current location on Google Maps.

DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w & SPOT Satellite Communicator
The DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w & SPOT Satellite Communicator was first introduced at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. In addition to established SPOT Messaging features, users are able to send custom Type & Send text messages form remote locations to personal contacts or social network websites, Facebook and Twitter.

SPOT IS
This blue SPOT messenger that is certified Intrinsically Safe meeting Class I, Division 1, Groups A-D environments under UL 913 and CSA C22.2 No. 157 to meet the requirements of hazardous work environments.

SPOT HUG
SPOT HUG monitors a virtual security perimeter around a boat and instantly alerts the appropriate parties even from remote areas beyond cellular coverage.

SPOT Personal Tracker
The SPOT Personal Tracker was first introduced on August 2, 2007 at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT. The device was made available for purchase in November 2007. SPOT Personal Tracker sends one-way predefined messages and GPS coordinates via satellite to personal contacts or an emergency response coordination center.

SOS - Notifies the emergency response center of a user's GPS location.

Help - Ask family and friends for help.

Check-in/OK - Let contacts know where you are and that you are OK.

Custom Message - Send a custom message to family and friends.

Facebook - Share your GPS location and message on Facebook.

Twitter - Share your GPS location and message on Twitter.

Geocaching.com - Log geocache finds and post notes from the field.

Spot Adventures
Share your progress on a Live Map, create adventures and add photos and stories.

Additional message features and services

Track Progress Track Progress allows friends and family to follow your progress online in real time using Google Maps.

Type & Send (Service only available for the DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w with SPOT Communicator) Send custom text messages via satellites to contacts. With the PN-60w's handheld internal keyboard, create up to 41 character messages.

GEOS Member Rescue Benefit GEOS provides SOS/911 monitoring included in Basic Service. Provides insurance coverage of up to $100K in Search and Rescue (SAR) expenses.

SPOT Assist Service SPOT Assist provides satellite-based notification to third party professional service providers to help ensure your safety on land (SPOT Assist Roadside) or water (SPOT Assist Maritime).

Product Replacement Program The SPOT Product Replacement Program offers registered SPOT users the ability to quickly replace damaged, lost or stolen SPOT devices.
