The family of Southeast Solomonic languages is a branch of the Oceanic languages. It consists of some 26 language
s covering the South East Solomon Islands

. The unity of the family and its two branches are fully supported by a 2008 analysis of the Austronesian Basic Vocabulary Database.
The fact that there is such little diversity amongst this language group when compared to groups of similar size in Melanesia
